1.) I’m left-handed.
We only make up about 10-15% of the population. Left-handers are more prone to migraines than their righty counterparts. The word “left” in English comes from the Anglo-Saxon word “lyft”, which means weak or broken. There are more lefty men than women. At least four of the most popular Presidents of the United States were left–handed. International Left Hander’s Day is celebrated on August 13th. Jack the Ripper was left-handed.
2.) I don’t wash clothes over Christmas or New Year’s.
My mum always said it’s like “washing a life away”. In the 1970s, my gran did a clothes wash over Christmas (breaking superstition for the first time ever) and my mum’s dad died the following year, so it sort of became a family tradition.
3.) I detest coffee.
But I am obsessed with making it, and am a Costa accredited barista.
4.) I’ve been engaged twice, but never married.
Marriage has never appealed to me, and I often compare it to slavery.
5.) I am a dual national/ethnicity.
United Kingdom and Malta.
6.) I don’t watch television.
I occasionally watch Netflix, Prime or BBC iPlayer.
7.) I love the sea but very rarely go in it.
The coast is my favourite place in the world, but it terrifies me.
8.) My dad was a chef who once served the Queen.
Through him, I learnt to cook. To me, it’s instinctual. I don’t read or follow recipes, I just cook with instinct and emotion. It’s one of the few skills I have that I’m actually proud of.
9.) I’m 5’1.
The men in my family are very tall; the women very short.
And last but not least;
10.) I hate flying.
Yet I’m a frequent flier and avid traveller 🤔
